Layering Tops

Hey Preps!
Since Winter is so cold, now is the time to layer your tops. Here's how to put together some great layered looks!

First, you'll want to choose a base. You're going to want to use a collared, button down because you can roll the sleeves and expose the button down a little more, as well as the collar sticking out.

Then for the second layer, you can use a sweater, cardigan, zip-up or other cute tops. Sometimes this step is difficult-- trying to make sure the outfit isn't too pattern heavy, and that the colors go well together.

Now, you're going to have to choose your bottoms. Since it is Winter, I'd recommend some sort of long pants; jeans, khakis, colored pants, but you could go with a skirt or shorts depending on the occasion.

Lastly, it's time to accessorize! This is definitely my favorite part. Some people tend to forget that accessories don't just include jewelry, you can add a vest, belt, hat or anything else you can think of!

Voila! A perfect layered look!!!

Antiquing in Layers

Hey Preps!!
This past weekend, I checked out an antique "farm." This place has all kinds of antiques and re-done furniture in a bunch of barns and farmhouses. There were so many cool pieces, I had to take some great pics!
I love the layered look I styled for this shoot. With different shades of blue, it makes my outfit look very wintery. I will link the same or some similar pieces below, so you can find these for yourself!

Kendra Scott Spring 2018

Hey Preps!
As you probably know, I am an avid fan of Kendra Scott. I love all of their stuff -- from necklaces, to bracelets, to home decor. On Wednesday 1/17 they released the Kendra Scott Spring 2018 Collection, and it. is. BEAUTIFUL. Let's take a look at my favorite pieces.

  • Misha Statement Earrings in Blush Pearl

These are so vibrant and unique. A great twist on the classic tassel earring. My favorite part is the large stone on the top, matching the color of the tassel. Of all the color options, I chose the pink because of how different it is compared to the other Kendra Scott collections. Normally, Kendra has many neutrals and few pops of colors that are not accompanied by gold or silver. These earrings are very fun and different; they make a statement.
  • Inez Long Pendant Necklace in Bronze Turquoise

The new collection has a new modern look. Lots of raw stones, rather than stones encased in clasps and holders. This next piece is big example of the new look. I have to admit, I am in LOVE with this stone. The gold accents with the turquoise are so delicate and decadent. Normally, I am not a big fan of the very long, stone necklaces, but this one is gorgeous and different.
  • Tabi Anklet in Silver

As I said previously, this collection is very different compared to the older ones. This next piece is something I've never seen Kendra do before, an anklet! At first I thought it was a choker (they had some in their Winter collection), but no, it is an anklet. I think it is so pretty. I am personally not a big fan of anklets, but this dainty one is very pretty. I'd never wear it myself, but on others it would look great. The tiny charms on this piece are so perfect for anyone who wears it.
  • Carson Statement Earrings Navy Dusted Glass

This stone is too much for me to handle! Too gorgeous! The different shades of blue streaks make a true statement. Not only are the stones precious on these earrings, I really like the long shape. These would make a great pair of earrings for a party or dinner. If you found the right dress, they could really dress up your look. The rose gold with the purplish-blue stones make these perfectly unique and different.
  • Pryde Open Ring in Abalone Shell

This ring is similar to the rings Kendra has released before. It matches the Elisa necklace, but what I like about it is the little knob on the other side of it. I've noticed a pattern of tiny matte charms and knobs throughout the new collection, and I have to admit, I kind of like them. It is very different than the usual Kendra style.

  • Fern Pendant Necklace in Rose Gold

This necklace is truly the daintiest of the collection, the first thing I have found out of KS Spring 2018 that doesn't make as large of a statement compared to the other pieces. But I really like it. It is a modern take on the Elisa necklace and I love it. I just ordered it yesterday, after seeing it on Instagram way before the release. I have had my heart set on the simplicity of this new piece. The notches on the chain are very different, yet delicate. I love this new collection.

Golden Pineapple

Hey Preps!!
Lately pineapples have been quite a big trend. I have to admit I have been a big fan, I think that they are super cute. Pineapples bring a lot of life to anything and makes everything so fun. Normally when you think of preppy, you think ship's wheel, anchor, bows, pearls, you know the usual stuff. I think that pineapple has been a new addition to that preppy list! They are on sweaters, purses, shorts and they look so cute as home decor. I don't think they are a fad, hopefully they'll be added to year-round style. Here are a bunch of adorable pineapple products you MUST get before Summer begins. (If summer begins... why is this Winter so frigid??)
